January 21, 2015
Driving sensation 20 year old Cameron Davies from Llandovery, previously Britain's youngest ever Rally Champion, has today signed for Swansea based SVG Racing to compete in the UK Sports 2000 Championships in 2015.
The young driver is set to join International driver and 2014 Championship class winner Tim Matthews in a new driver line up still to be completed. The team based just off Junction 45 of the M4 in a spectator friendly showroom have long term ambitions to race at Lemans.
Sales director Sean Kelly explained, “ We are really pleased that Cameron has decided to join SVG Racing. He is clearly ambitious and highly motivated and I'm sure he will prove a great asset to the team. It may take him a short while to get used to the style of circuit racing and the race craft needed but with Tim Matthews coaching him I'm sure he will be at the front by the end of the season. Cameron adds a bit of youth and good looks to the team in conjunction with sponsorship savvy and I'm sure that before long he will develop a considerable fan base.”
Cameron added, “I'm really excited about joining SVG. It will be a way I can adapt to a new driving discipline and in Tim I have a vastly experienced driver to learn from. I know I have a lot of work to do to reach the top but I'm confident that by the end of the season I will be somewhere near the front.
” Matthews explained in more detail, “Cameron's previous results have left us in no doubt that he is an exceptionally talented driver. He will bring a new edge to the team and I will certainly have to up my game to stay in front of him. We have great long term ambitions for the team and this young driver is our first step in developing a racing team that Wales can be proud of. Our first Championship race is at the end of April on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit and we have a good deal of work to do before then.”
