Eventful Oulton Park!
August 27, 2015
Cameron and SVG Racing team travelled to Oulton Park in Cheshire last weekend for a double header round of The Sports 2000 Championship. Qualifying got off to a good start but was hampered by a sticking brake calliper, never the less Cameron pushed on and qualified on the 2nd row of the grid in 4th position. The Team set to work to solve the sticking calliper and the MCR race car was soon ready to race. Race 1 got off to a good start maintaining his 4th position for a couple of laps before Cameron made a move into 3rd position by late braking into a hairpin and passing on the outside but unfortunately got nudged off the track which damaged and broke the rear suspension and the car came to a stop. At the end of the race Cameron’s car was recovered and brought back to the garage for the Team to asses the damage and they immediately set work to repair it. The car was soon repaired and a Big Thank You for their efforts to SVG Racing,Simon,Clinker,Gizmo,Luke and Clive MCR for always having parts available.
Race 2 Cameron had to start right at the back of the grid in 29th position with a mammoth task ahead of him to try and moved up the grid to gain as many points as possibly for the championship and plus the race had been shortened due time delays in the day. The race got underway and at the end of the first lap Cameron had past 17 cars and was in 12th position, the fight back was on! Lap after lap Cameron moved up the grid and then rear mount on his seat broke which made it very difficult on all the corners so he wisely held his position rather than push on and finished an amazing 7th overall. Cameron said after the race “it was a very difficult race starting at the back and then with the seat issues but was happy with his result” and went on to say "that the driving standards of all the racers he past was impeccable, they were all aware of their surroundings and could see me catching them and acted appropiately, proper racing and sportsmanship.
