4th WIN IN A ROW FOR CAMERON AND LEE IN DMACK CARLISLE RALLY AFTER A MATURE AND SENSIBLE DRIVE IN TOUGH CONDITIONS.
The BTRDA DMack Carlisle Rally got under way on Saturday and Cameron and Lee started the 1st stage with caution as there was a lot of rocks on the stage. Stage 2 followed which was 14 miles long, again experiencing rough conditions the pair had to adjust the way they attacked the stage by looking after the car and slowing down where needed. The same approach was taken in stage 3 before returning to main service in Carlisle with a lead of 54 seconds over the next Fiesta ST.
The Service Team set to work on the car and initially finding everything ok with the car until the took the sump guard off. The guard was heavily damaged by rocks and the radiator had been damaged. Immediately the Team rushed to change the radiator and carry on with the routine checks. The radiator was changed quickly with only the sump guard to put back on, but this proved to be very difficult as it was badly damaged and out of shape and took vital time to refit. The job was done with just a couple of minutes spare before they were due to leave service.
Stage 4 was 15 miles long and the longest stage of the day. Cameron and Lee immediately encountered rough sections in the stage and decided to ease of the pace as they already had a lead of nearly a minute in the Fiesta ST Trophy Class and preserve the car and take no risks. They reached the end of the stage where the service team was waiting and Cameron reported suspension problems with the car. On investigations the right side front suspension top mount was badly damaged and moving from side to side, also the left side ball joint was damaged. With no parts or time to replace it the Team did what they could before Cameron and Lee went on their way to the 5th and final stage. Cameron knew he could not drive hard at all, it would be a hard task just to get the car through the stage let alone the drive back to the finish at Carlisle. With a true mature and sensible head he managed to get the car through the stage and back to the finish with a winning margin to 1 minute and 43 seconds!!
This rally showed the true ability Cameron has not only in speed but also to think with a mature head and with the help and support of the Team Cameron and Lee WON their 4th Fiesta ST Trophy Rally in a row. Now the Team have a lot of preparation work to get the car ready for the next round, The Nicky Grist Stages on July 9th.
